High School Graduation Checklist

It is almost June, an exciting, momentous time for all graduating high school students. For any senior, this is also a bustling time of year with summer fast approaching and university/college starting in September.  We have come up with a high school graduation checklist to help get better organized during this busy time.

Complete all academic requirements.

Focus on the main thing. Finish strong with all final examinations and submit any last projects for all subjects. Also, double-check with your teachers to make sure you are doing everything you can to satisfy your academic obligations. Get this done as soon as possible to save time for more end-of-year activities at school. Your final grades should be a top priority on your high school graduation checklist.

Consult your guidance counselor.

Wrap up your academic plans at the end of the school year and talk about future ones with your trusted high school guidance counselor. Discuss the details of the past academic year but also be sure to consider the plans ahead for the big year to come. His/her professional opinion will help you establish your plans for college/university.

Verify school fees and documents at the front office.

Make sure that there are no holds on your record. Most schools require students to pay all outstanding fees and fines, and other requirements before they can graduate. In your high school graduation checklist, should ensure that you deal with any financial obligations.

Order your cap and gown.

It is best to complete this sooner rather than later. If there are problems with fit or availability, you will have enough time to take care of them before graduation day. You want to look your best on that big day!

Order your yearbook.

High school is the pinnacle of excitement in the life of most students. Yearbooks are the perfect keepsake for your teenage adventures and misadventures. You will be glad you kept a reminder of possibly the most thrilling time of your life as a student.

Mail out Graduation Announcements and Invitations.

Do not hesitate to announce to the world you are graduating! Make your friends and family know how hard you have worked hard to get this far. They’ll be delighted to be a part of this important time with you.

Send Thank You letters.

Many people have helped you to achieve your goals and get to where you are. You may let them know how you appreciate their efforts and encouragement by sending them “Thank You” notes. They could be your academic teachers, sports coaches, guidance counselors, supportive friends, and loving parents. Thank anyone who helped you all the way. It is perfect to end an incredible year with the spirit of gratitude.

Finishing twelve years of education is no small feat. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back for a job well done, but remember not to get too caught up in the moment and let your excitement set you off course. A well-planned high school graduation checklist should help you focus on what’s most important.  Be sure to start early.  Congratulations, and all the best!
