In-person tutoring services

Our mission is to provide personalized in-person tutoring tailored to each student’s unique needs and learning styles. The lessons are one-on-one at the student’s home or a library. Our lessons focus on homework support, test preparation or targeting specific skills.  We offer in-person tutoring in several cities across Canada and for all academic subjects from kindergarten to second year university.

In-person tutoring by professionals

Our tutors are Canadians with high qualifications and extensive tutoring experience.  Many of our tutors hold university degrees, and some even have a PhD, master’s or teacher’s certification. They have several years of Canadian tutoring experience so they know how to teach our curriculum, are familiar with our textbooks and understand the expectations in our classroom.

Each student has a dedicated tutor

We understand the importance of building a strong tutor-student relationship. That’s why each student works one-on-one with the same tutor for all of their sessions. This continuity allows our tutors to track the student’s progress, adapt their teaching style, build momentum, and hold the student accountable. Often, our tutors become mentors, boosting confidence and making it easier for the student to seek help when needed.

We go beyond expectations

Tutors on Call provides exceptional customer service throughout the entire tutoring program.  We follow up with you throughout the program to make sure that you are 100% happy with the student’s progress and to determine if any changes need to be made.

We track the student’s progress

At the beginning of each month you are emailed a monthly progress report.  It lists all of the lessons that have been taught, provides a summary of the student’s progress and indicates the material that is covered each lesson.

Frequently asked questions

How do I request a tutor?

To request a tutor, simply contact us through our website or give us a call. We will discuss your specific needs, such as the subject, grade level, and scheduling preferences. It will then take about three days to confirm a tutor and get the lessons started.

Where do tutoring sessions take place?

Tutoring sessions can be arranged at a location that is convenient for you. This can include your home, a library, or another public space.

May I request a tutor for just a couple lessons?

Absolutely! We offer flexible tutoring solutions for specific projects, exam preparation, essay writing, or to finish up a course.

Do you offer in-person tutoring for primary students?

Certainly! These lessons tend to focus on literacy and numeracy. Our experienced primary specialists and Canadian-certified teachers lead engaging sessions to keep the student excited about learning.   If requested, these sessions can include homework so the student can practice new skills outside of the lessons.

Do you offer group tutoring?

No.  We exclusively provide one-on-one tutoring. Our approach prioritizes individualized attention, customized instruction, privacy, and reduced distractions. Individual tutoring offers flexible scheduling, personalized feedback, and enhanced progress tracking, facilitating in-depth subject exploration and lowering student anxiety.

What is the duration of each tutoring session?

In-person tutoring sessions are a minimum of 1.5 hours. If there is more than one student from the same home, then the time can be split between two students.

Can your tutors help me prepare for specialized exams?

Definitely! We provide in person tutoring for a range of exams, including SAT, SSAT, GED, MCAT, GRE, LSAT, and ACT.

Do you offer discounts?

We offer a discount if there is a higher number of hours taught per month.

I am upgrading.  Are there in-person tutoring options for me?

Yes, we have worked with many students who are transitioning to a new career and need to upgrade their math, science or English qualifications.

Can your tutors help me improve my English skills?

At Tutors on Call, we have tutors who are specialized in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). These lessons can include reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Can Tutors on Call help me build my business communication skills?

Tutors on Call extends its expertise to businesses, offering private in-person tutoring programs that focus on language development and business writing.

Do you offer in person tutoring for students who are being homeschooled?
