Our mission is to provide personalized in-person tutoring tailored to each student’s unique needs and learning styles. The lessons are one-on-one at the student’s home or a library. Our lessons focus on homework support, test preparation or targeting specific skills. We offer in-person tutoring in several cities across Canada and for all academic subjects from kindergarten to second year university.

Questions about our in-person tutoring services?
Do you offer in-person tutoring for primary students?
Certainly! These lessons tend to focus on literacy and numeracy. Our experienced primary specialists and Canadian-certified teachers lead engaging sessions to keep the student excited about learning. If requested, these sessions can include homework so the student can practice new skills outside of the lessons.
How long are the in-person lessons?
All in-person lessons are a minimum of 90 minutes.
What if a 90 minute lesson is too long for my child?
There can be a 10 minute break inbetween two 45 minute sessions. Also, the time can be split between two students from the same family.
Do you offer in-person tutoring for university students?
In some cities we do have tutors who are specialized in tutoring university level courses.
How is the tutoring at Tutors on Call different than at a learning center?
At a learning center, instruction is often provided in a group setting with students from different grade levels. Lessons are typically not personalized and may not align with the specific work the student is currently doing in their classroom. With Tutors on Call, students work one-on-one with a dedicated tutor, allowing them to build momentum and develop a strong rapport. Additionally, all lessons are conveniently held at the student’s home or a library, rather than at a learning center.
Do your tutors have a criminal record check completed and their references checked?
All of our tutors have completed a criminal record check and have had their references checked.
Can lessons be transitioned to online if in-person sessions are disrupted (e.g., due to weather or illness)?
Yes, we provide the flexibility to transition to online tutoring if in-person sessions are disrupted. This ensures continuity in learning without interruptions.
What are the qualifications of your tutors?
All of our tutors have at least a university degree and 2+ years of tutoring experience with the Canadian curriculum.
Do I need to be home during the lessons?
If the student is under the age of 18 then an adult over the age of 18 needs to be home during the lessons.
How are lessons scheduled?
Lessons are scheduled directly with the tutor. We recommend that all scheduling is done between the parent and the tutor unless the student is over the age of 18. If you want your high school student to be in charge of scheduling then we suggest that you are copied on the communication.
