The main focus of these programs is to help our students strengthen their English reading and writing skills; or to learn English as a Second Language. Of course, we do have tutors that can support students in all other subjects such as math, calculus, chemistry, physics, biology and social studies. Our tutors are Canadians so they are familiar with our school system, provincial grade level requirements and the expectations in our classroom.
We strive to meet the demand
Over the last few years, there has been an increase in the demand for online tutoring for students abroad. To meet this demand we launched our online tutoring platform in early 2020. This platform not only allows us to serve the needs of our students at home but also those of our clients requiring online tutoring for students abroad. Our tutors are experts in their field
Having a Canadian online tutor ensures that the student receives quality instruction and guidance from someone familiar and qualified to teach the curriculum. Some of our university level tutors even have a masters or PhD and have experience teaching at a university. The student works with a dedicated tutor
At Tutors on Call, we do things differently. With the same teacher for every lesson, the student and teacher get the opportunity to establish a rapport. Since we track the student’s progress, we can adapt to the way the student learns, while sustaining momentum. We encourage a safe learning environment which has a positive impact on the student’s confidence and likelihood that they will ask for help and/or clarification.
The tutoring is one-on-one
One of the reasons why our online tutoring lessons are effective is because they are one-on-one and completely customized to the student. They are not group lessons, self-paced courses or the student watching instructional videos. We understand that for most students these are not effective. Our online tutoring follows a similar structure to in-home lessons. The student still has the same tutor for every lesson, the lessons are one-on-one, the tutor tracks the student’s progress and every lesson is customized to the student’s needs. With the combination of an experienced online tutor and advanced online tutoring technology the lessons are effective for all grades and subjects.
We track the student’s progress
At the beginning of each month you are emailed a monthly progress report. It lists all of the lessons that have been taught, provides a summary of the student’s progress and indicates the material that is covered each lesson. By having the same tutor throughout the program it allows the tutor to track the progress and determine any areas that require more attention.
The lessons are consistent
We encourage consistent lessons. A regular weekly tutoring schedule has proven to be the most successful and proactive approach for online tutoring for students abroad. This ensures that the student is on top of their assignments, fully understanding the course material and preparing for upcoming tests.
